Day 7 of the Deck Install
They trimmed out the edges of both decks and began work on the boardwalk. It's gonna take a little longer because they had to dig a bit more than they thought but that's ok... Because it's getting done right.
Monday will be the rest as well as the counter instead of Tuesday.
Construction on the storage shed will commence on December 1st.

Day 6 of the Deck Install
Tomorrow the boardwalk will be finished. Tuesday, the cabinets/sink. The roof had to be ordered so, on or about the 1st of December it goes on.

Day 5 of the Deck Install
What I was refering to as the "mini-deck" has now become the "maxi-deck."
It completely surrounds the fire-pit and there is enough room to put all the chairs on it as well as still be able to walk around.
The red lines indicate where (roughly) the boardwalk will go to tie the two together.

Obama and Your Guns
| |

Illinois State Rifle Association Executive Director Richard Pearson Issues Open Letter to Nation's Sportsmen Regarding Obama's TRUE History in the Illinois Senate We've repeatedly warned readers not to believe Barack Obama when he claims to support our Second Amendment rights. We have told you the truth--that Barack Obama is the most anti-gun presidential candidate in American history! Hands down. No question. Barack Obama opposes the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding, freedom-loving, American firearm owners. We've given the facts, and provided the documentation. But if you know someone who's still not convinced, you'll want to share with them a recent, open letter to our nation's gun owners, hunters, and sportsmen, written by Illinois State Rifle Association (ISRA) Executive Director Richard Pearson. Pearson's credentials include deep involvement in the firearm rights movement for more than 40 years. He's been the chief lobbyist for the ISRA for the past 15 years. And, most importantly, because of his personal experience, he knows Barack Obama's true stance on the Second Amendment. In his letter, Mr. Pearson says, "I lobbied Barack Obama extensively while he was an Illinois State Senator. As a result of that experience, I know Obama's attitudes toward guns and gun owners better than anyone. The truth be told, in all my years in the Capitol I have never met a legislator who harbors more contempt for the law-abiding firearm owner than does Barack Obama." Mr. Pearson goes on to describe just some of Obama's anti-gun voting record, saying, "While a state senator, Obama voted for a bill that would ban nearly every hunting rifle, shotgun and target rifle owned by Illinois citizens. That same bill would authorize the state police to raid homes of gun owners to forcibly confiscate banned guns." Obama also voted FOUR TIMES against legislation that would protect a homeowner who use a firearm in defense of home and family! It doesn't get much plainer than that, folks. This letter is a must-read for every pro-freedom, pro-self-defense, pro-Second Amendment American. To read the entire letter, please click here. Then be sure to forward the link to every Second Amendment supporter you know. The truth about Obama's stance on firearms and the Second Amendment needs to be told—again! Celente Predicts Revolution, Food Riots, Tax Rebellions By 2012
Paul Joseph Watson
Prison Planet.com
Thursday, November 13, 2008
The man who predicted the 1987 stock market crash and the fall of the Soviet Union is now forecasting revolution in America, food riots and tax rebellions - all within four years, while cautioning that putting food on the table will be a more pressing concern than buying Christmas gifts by 2012.
Gerald Celente, the CEO of Trends Research Institute, is renowned for his accuracy in predicting future world and economic events, which will send a chill down your spine considering what he told Fox News this week.
Celente says that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts.
“We’re going to see the end of the retail Christmas….we’re going to see a fundamental shift take place….putting food on the table is going to be more important that putting gifts under the Christmas tree,” said Celente, adding that the situation would be “worse than the great depression”.
“America’s going to go through a transition the likes of which no one is prepared for,” said Celente, noting that people’s refusal to acknowledge that America was even in a recession highlights how big a problem denial is in being ready for the true scale of the crisis.
Celente says that by 2012 America will become an undeveloped nation, that there will be a revolution marked by food riots, squatter rebellions, tax revolts and job marches, and that holidays will be more about obtaining food, not gifts.
Celente, who successfully predicted the 1997 Asian Currency Crisis, the subprime mortgage collapse and the massive devaluation of the U.S. dollar, told UPI in November last year that the following year would be known as “The Panic of 2008,” adding that “giants (would) tumble to their deaths,” which is exactly what we have witnessed with the collapse of Lehman Brothers, Bear Stearns and others. He also said that the dollar would eventually be devalued by as much as 90 per cent.
The consequence of what we have seen unfold this year would lead to a lowering in living standards, Celente predicted a year ago, which is also being borne out by plummeting retail sales figures.
The prospect of revolution was a concept echoed by a British Ministry of Defence report last year, which predicted that within 30 years, the growing gap between the super rich and the middle class, along with an urban underclass threatening social order would mean, “The world’s middle classes might unite, using access to knowledge, resources and skills to shape transnational processes in their own class interest,” and that, “The middle classes could become a revolutionary class.”
In a separate recent interview, Celente went further on the subject of revolution in America.
“There will be a revolution in this country,” he said. “It’s not going to come yet, but it’s going to come down the line and we’re going to see a third party and this was the catalyst for it: the takeover of Washington, D. C., in broad daylight by Wall Street in this bloodless coup. And it will happen as conditions continue to worsen.”
“The first thing to do is organize with tax revolts. That’s going to be the big one because people can’t afford to pay more school tax, property tax, any kind of tax. You’re going to start seeing those kinds of protests start to develop.”
“It’s going to be very bleak. Very sad. And there is going to be a lot of homeless, the likes of which we have never seen before. Tent cities are already sprouting up around the country and we’re going to see many more.”
“We’re going to start seeing huge areas of vacant real estate and squatters living in them as well. It’s going to be a picture the likes of which Americans are not going to be used to. It’s going to come as a shock and with it, there’s going to be a lot of crime. And the crime is going to be a lot worse than it was before because in the last 1929 Depression, people’s minds weren’t wrecked on all these modern drugs – over-the-counter drugs, or crystal meth or whatever it might be. So, you have a huge underclass of very desperate people with their minds chemically blown beyond anybody’s comprehension.”
The George Washington blog has compiled a list of quotes attesting to Celente’s accuracy as a trend forecaster.

Happy Veteran's Day
To all my fellow veterans.
And check this out. I have no idea who the kid is, where it was taken, or even when (although the 70's is a good guess). But it is completely awesome.

Isn't that the coolest?

Wizard World Day 3/Monday morning
Sunday was a whirlwind.
Woke up. Packed. Breakfast. Loaded Jeep. Went to show. Haggled. Commisioned some art. Said goodbye to Vinnie and Darren (thanks bro's for a great weekend). Got on the road.
Oh, and one more reason my dogs are cooler than yours; they got to meet Lou Ferrigno. And he liked them.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Here it is, Monday morning and no one, and I do mean NO ONE is here except us contractor types. The Army is on a 4 day weekend due to Veterans Day. Now, it would make sense that those whose job it is to support the Army would have the day off as well, right? Well, I'm typing this from my office...

Wizard World Day 2
I slept for about an hour last night. Tab, I don't think got much more. We woke up, took the dogs out and had some breakfast.
Vinnie called and said we could come over early so, the boys and I did. They got some really cool free swag. At 1000hrs, the doors opened (officially) and in we went. I gave each of the boys $100 to use as they wanted. CW's down to $24 and Mike's down to $35. We'll do a little more shopping/haggling tomorrow before heading home around noonish.
I got a Firebreather sketch from Andy Kuhn (as well as some custom covers), a Captain Marvel sketch from Matt Wagner and a Guy Gardner (the one true Green Lantern) sketch from Ethan Van Sciver.

After spending too much dang time on I-35 we finally arrived in Arlington around 2100hrs.
Tab and the boys ordered room service and Vinnie, Darren and I went to the bar. It was great to see the both of them again.
And now, here I sit... With Buffalo Wings and Quesadillas. Nom nom nom.

Addendum IV
I'm in Amsterdam. The flight here was uneventful and relatively quick. Unfortunatley I now have a 4 1/2 hour layover.
Before I left Kuwait I downloaded the first 2 episodes of Smallville Season 8 and transfered them to my iPod so that helped pass the time. I'm downloading 3 and 4 now.
That's about it.

Addendum III
I'm at the airport sitting in the "snooty" lounge having just eaten some "Devil Chicken." My first thought was, "Interesting name." Then I took a bite and the name took on a whole new meaning.
Remember a while back when I tried to ship PX bought-in-the-bag-with-price-tag-attached magazines? Remember that the post office refused to ship them and told me to put them in my checked baggage? Yeah right. The Kuwaiti Airport had a field day with me. Two magazines, a pistol grip and my knife were all confiscated. Now mind you, this was in my CHECKED baggage and not my carry-on. I'm a bit irate but hey, better than being put in jail...

The Lord has a sense of humor...
Saturday morning my alarm goes off. I reach over and slap the snooze bar and return my weary head to the pillow. And then I hear "clink." Then another, "clink." Then another, then another until there is a full blown symphony of "clinks." Rolling over, I open my window only to discover marble and pea sized hail hitting my CHU, the ground and everything else like little frozen meteors of death. I close the window, lie back down and start laughing. I'm talking from-the-gut, laughter. I look up, point and say, "You sure do have a sense of humor."
I am still confident that I will be flying out so, Jim takes me up to the PAX. Within 10 minutes of our arrival, the skies completely open up. Rain drops as big as a fist are hitting the already existing puddles and making them larger. Jim looks at me and laughs his little "fake-evil-elven" laugh. My response is, "I'm flying home on Monday even if I have to convoy down to Ali."
The flight was supposed to leave at 1020hrs. At around 1145hrs the plane shows up. We get on board and spend an hour on the flight line. Then finally, up we go. One hour later we land in a very messy Baghdad. It's even worse down there. We are grounded due to lightening strikes and we are not allowed to leave the plane. An hour passes and finally the get the Baghdad people off the plane while we wait to get refueled. No fuel trucks shows. Lightening = No fuel truck. So, we wait some more. Then they tell us it's gonna be a while and we get off the plane and move into the terminal. An hour passes and then we are told to get back on board. So, off we go. We sit there for an hour then start to move, taxiing down the line. We come to an abrupt stop... And sit for another hour. Suddenly the cargo doors whir into action and I'm thinking, "Uh, that's not right." Off we go again, the navigation system is fried. Now we WALK back to the PAX from the end of the flight line. Two hours later we are boarding a new plane, taking off and landing in Kuwait.
Ali still sucks but I'm at the apartment now. I fly tonight/tomorrow morning. Mandy or Tosca will pick me up around 2100ish.
Daddy's coming home...

It seems that...
The Lord has decided that my work here is not quite done. I may not make it out on Saturday.
We are getting thunderstorms followed by dust storms followed by thunderstorms. Fixed wings are not moving currently and may not be moving for the next 3 days.
If I don't fly on Saturday then I won't be home on Monday. So, it may end up being Thursday (or possibly later) before I am back in Texas.
